What Is a Mocktail?
All the flavor and fun of a cocktail but without the alcohol. Mocktails are the perfect mixed drink for a zero-proof night out. The term “mocktail” might be a fairly new term for some and can be confusing if you’ve never encountered it before. It’s a blend of the words “mock” and “cocktail,” meaning a “faux” cocktail. But what exactly does that mean, and what goes into a good mocktail?
Mocktail vs. Cocktail
In the simplest terms, the significant difference between a mocktail and a cocktail is that a mocktail doesn’t contain alcohol. They’re mixed drinks we all know, They contain the same ingredients as their boozy counterparts, just not the alcoholic component.
What’s In a Mocktail?
Mocktails are specially crafted mixed drinks to be similar to cocktails but without liquor. They usually include many of the same ingredients as cocktails on the menu All About Mocktails.
Mocktails are more than just a cup of juice or a cocktail, hold the alcohol. They are specialty concoctions with their own complex and diverse flavor profiles. Just as some cocktails are experimental in their ingredients, pairing elements like herbs or traditionally savory ingredients, mocktails do as well.

Dragonfly Margarita (Staff Favorite)
Equipment
- 1 cocktail shaker optional
Materials
- 1 shot glass Dragonfly Not Tequila 2 oz (50 ml)
- 2 shot glass lime juice 4 oz (100 ml)
- 2 Tbs Agave syrup
- 1 glass cubed ice cubed
- 1 Tbs Rock Salt optional
- 1 TBS Red pimiento optional
Instructions
- Add one shot Dragonfly Not Tequila, two shots glasses lime juice and two shot glasses agave syrup to a cocktail mixer prefilled with ice. Shake well. and pour into glass. A nice added touch is to pre-salt the rim of the cocktail glass before filling. Add a wedge of lime and enjoy.

Dragonfly Mojito
Equipment
- 1 Highball Glass
- 1 Cocktail Muddler option: wooden spoon
- 1 Barspoon option: Silver spoon
Materials
- 1 shot Dragonfly Not Rum
- 2 Tsp Fine sugar option: simple syrup
- 2-3 oz Club soda option: lime soda
- 4-8 leaves Fresh mint leaves
- 1 Lime
- 1 Sprig Fresh mint
- 3-5 Cubes Ice
Instructions
- Gather the ingredients
- In a highball glass, add the sugar, mint leaves, and a splash of the club soda.
- Muddle just enough to dissolve the sugar and release the flavor of the mint.
- Squeeze the juice from the 2 halves of lime into the glass. Drop 1 squeezed half into the glass if desired.
- Add the Dragonfly Not Rum and stir well.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes and top with club soda.
